During the May Day holiday, Jiangsu witnessed a rich and colorful nightlife in various regions, with citizens and tourists visiting scenic spots and tasting various delicacies to their hearts’ content.

At around 7 pm at the Xijindu scenic spot in Zhenjiang, Wang Xin, a tourist from Yantai of Shandong province, said that she wasted no time to visit Xijindu upon her arrival in Zhenjiang rather than checking at the hotel.

“It"s very beautiful, an ancient city, very lively, and the experience is very good,” saidWang Xin, a tourist from Yantai of Shandong.

In one of the most distinctive pot-covered noodle restaurants in Zhenjiang, the chef who was serving noodles said that nearly 1000 bowls of noodles have been sold since the morning.

“Business is quite good. There are many customers today and the accounts have not been settled yet. It"s only 8 o"clock now and we won"t close until 9 o"clock. It"s expected that the sales will be around 20000 yuan by 9 o"clock,” said Yan Yongjian, the owner of a pot-covered noodle diner in Zhenjiang.

At Qingjiang Pulou Square in Huai"an, the night market was open at 7 pm. Food, handmade weaving, and distinctive cultural and creative products turned the place into a bustling market while visitors enjoyed the dazzling sceneries against the evening breeze.

After savoring the night market cuisine and enjoying the beautiful scenery, tourists began to experience classic traditional Chinese operas and folk art performances of intangible cultural heritage in Huai’an and Yangzhou.

Famous opera performers and folk artists, including Huaihai Opera performer Xu Yaling and Yangzhou Opera performer Xu Xiufang, staged cultural performances and attracted many tourists.

During the May Day holiday, the Qingjiangpu Scenic Area of the Interior Canal Cultural Corridor also launched a themed activity titled "Ten Little Things You Must Do When Visiting the Interior Canal", attracting citizens and tourists to "take a boat ride for zero distance contact with the Millennium-old Canal" and "enter the Canal Museum and touch the past and present lives of Qingjiangpu". As a result, both sides of the Interior Canal were filled with tourists, and the atmosphere was lively and extraordinary.

As night fell, Yanhe Ancient Lane in Lianyungang city was bustling with tourists visiting the ancient lane and savoring seafood barbecues by attracting 150 thousand citizens and tourists in one night.
